More things i don't need...

Miniature food collectibles from Japan are the cutest things ever, and are currently my new obsession.
The best part is their size... so tiny! They're no bigger than 2 inches and are really detailed for something so small.

These little toys can be ordered from www.jlist.com, which is where some of these images are from. The other images are from the website of the company who manufactures them...www.re-ment.co.jp

http://www.pbase.com/kujira12/toys_puchi ..... this site has great photos of the different food collections that Re-Ment produces.

I'm running out of room for all the crap I collect... I'm glad these things are small!

Holy marshmallow, Batman!

I found this in a candy store the other day. This glorious thing is made entirely of marshmallow and it's lightly strawberry flavored. Why a burger-shaped marshmallow would be strawberry flavored is beyond my comprehension, but this mallowy masterpiece is fantastic nonetheless.

Look at the size of this thing!

All Marshmallow...the entire thing....

Here's the wrapper...

It's fat free!

Why Do Birds Suddenly Appear....

www.plan59.com
I love them.

According to their website: "Plan59.com is a family-friendly Web site dedicated to the commercial art of mid-century America."

Although It's really fun to browse around the site and see a bunch of great illustration, the best part of the site in my consumeristic opinion, is the plan59 store. They sell high-quality large scale prints of ad illustration art.

I've got my eye on a large print of a Swanson TV Dinner ad.

How fantastic would this look above my dining room table!?

(the image is taken from the plan59.com gift shop and is available for purchase in a variety of sizes!)

Out in the Sun, With No Work Getting Done

I've been talking about the Bag Lunch Custom Balm Workshop for quite a while now, promising that it will be online "soon."

Turns out, I've been sort of lazy lately... this nice weather keeps yanking me outside and sadly, my computer cable isn't long enough to follow. So the web update I've been hee-hawing about has fallen to the wayside.

But no longer! By the end of this weekend the Bag Lunch Custom Balm Workshop will go live! I'm not kidding this time!

The arrival of the Bag Lunch Custom Balm Workshop will also bring about two main points of awesomeness...
1. This will save me endless trip to the post office to mail out info packets.
2. Those of you who want to learn more about our custom balm will be able to get the information much quicker...
No more waiting for the info to arrive by mail! Ah, the immediacy of the internet! Technology is swell!

So yes, dear friends...the "soon" will shortly become "now."

I'm Charmed...

The fine people at Earthenwood Studio make the cutest foodie charms I've ever seen. The charms are hand formed from porcelain clay so each one is unique.

I especially like the donut charms. So cute I can hardly stand it! They make a load of other great things, in addition to these great little charms, so visit them and buy something, will ya?

Kitsch in the Kitchen!

Jen, the wonderful lady behind Sweet Pea Handcrafts, makes fantastic aprons in addition to a ton of other neat stuff.
My favorite apron has to be the "Reverse Hot Lucy." I love polka dots and this apron has a ton of them! You can purchase the "Reverse Hot Lucy" in two styles... a half apron that's great for light cooking duties, and a full apron for the times when full coverage in the kitchen is a must!

Thanks for Everything. Really.

Thank you, city of Brookline... for towing my car and making me roughly 5 hours late for work.

Thanks for towing my vehicle to a tow lot that isn't anywhere near public transportation.

If I didn't have the wonderful Myko offer to drive me to pick up my car, I'd probably still be walking to the tow lot.

So Thanks. Really. Made my day.

Food-Based Humor and a Chocolatey Apology.

I highly recommend the Stand-Up Comedy of Jim Gaffigan. He has a few albums out and he's very funny. A large portion of his material is based around food!

In other news... Cadbury is trying to win me back. They've sent coupons as an apology for the Mini Egg fiasco of last week.
It's working. I can easily be bought. Welcome home Cadbury! I can forgive what you've done to me.. but I won't forget.

Wednesday, March 08, 2006

Oh, how you've let me down...

I'm speaking to you, Cadbury. How could you do this to me? We've shared so much.
I bought a bag of your delicious Mini Eggs today and this is what I get....

A BUNCH OF BROKEN SHELLS!!!?
Why? I've never done anything but love you and this is what I get?

I'm disapointed in you.

I know what you're going to say. You'll say that your shells are delicate and this is to be expected.
But guess what... I'm not buying it. M&Ms have much thinner shells than yours and they would never do this to me.
(Oh, don't pretend you don't know about me and the M&Ms...you were away and I was lonely. It wouldn't have happened if you stopped by more than once a year, Mini Eggs.)

I'm not mad, just upset.
I'm willing to give you one more chance.
If this happens again, its over.

I'll call Lindt. Don't think I won't.

Oh, for the Love of Cadbury...

Guest writer and self proclaimed "chocolate-fiend" Richard has written this love letter to one of his favorite seasonal treats...enjoy!

To the half-wits who sang "I wish it could be Christmas everyday" I
say this, "Why would you deprive yourselves of Cadbury's Creme Eggs?"

In this nasty world someone in a lab coat at Cadburyland has your back.

Whoever crafted this fiendish confectionery deserves the kind of
praise usually reserved for the guy who said "And this machine cuts
the loaf into manageable slices"

So. You've bought a case of eggs. Well Done. Put them in the
refrigerator. You'll thank me when the outer wrapper comes off
easier. You don't want silvery bits under your nails, or worse still
chunks of foil zapping your fillings.

You now have an undressed refrigerated Cadbury's Creme Egg.

Then ... gnaw.

That's right, gnaw like an actual (?) Easter Bunny at the
surprisingly dense chocolately part at the top of the egg. You see,
chocolate engineers (yes they exist) will try to impress you with
stories of gigantic leaps in technology in the shaping of chocolate
on the production line, but trust me on this one, the top of the egg
is thicker.

Finally like a buck-toothed sugar-loving Jim Morrison you will break
on through to the other side. Congratulations, you have reached the
white and yellow inner goo. My choice here? Pucker up and suck that
yolk clean out. When you see the calories in one of these babies
you're going to be glad of the facial exercise.

You can expect some outer chocolate damage along the way, so as you
finish up the inner delights you should be left with about two-thirds
of the outer egg. What next? Simple, shove your tongue in there and
bring the egg into your mouth like a frog eating a bug. Sadly the
poor frog will never enjoy the pure sensation of milk chocolate
melting into the wells of your mouth, but hey they're holding out for
a woman to release their inner prince.

Have fun.

Meow!

I was photographing lip balm this weekend and of course, I was interrupted by my whiskered friend...

...not that I mind all that much.

Webbed Feet and Chocolate Eggs

I'm very tired!

Baglunchco.com got an update last night, with the help of my very good friend and web-genius Chris Martell.

So, thanks to his web-coding wizardry..
some new posters are up in the gallery.
And some new flavors are up as well.
New in the Bakery: slice of birthday cake lip balm and slice of wedding cake lip balm
New in the Ice Cream Shop: vanilla milkshake lip balm

Also, I'm still working on a bag lunch custom lip balm site, and that should be up in a few days. (hopefully)

In other news... Cadbury Mini Eggs are in Season! It's very exciting. These tiny joys are only available once a year here in the States so I've got to start stockpiling them now. Last year i went to London and found that Cadbury Mini Eggs are available year round over there. While over here they are marketed as an Easter candy, thus being sold for only a short time each year, In the UK they are simply available year round and the packaging features a slightly goofy looking non-descript bird.
Those lucky ducks across the pond!

Come to think of it, all the chocolate is better over there! You can find British chocolate over here, you just have to know where to look. Grocery stores that have an International Foods section usually stock some British chocolates.
Not to sound elitist, but once you've had some of these chocolates, things like Hersey Kisses and Nestle just don't cut it anymore. Although, I still love Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

Well, I'm off to build a website.. Where is my construction hat?

Here we go a Waffling...

I'm very excited.

Philosophy, a company who makes really great bath and shower gel among other things, has just released a new shower gel in "Waffle Cone" scent.

My weekend plans have officially been changed to allow myself time to track this product down!
I have horrible addiction to foodie-themed bath products. My bathroom is overflowing with colorful bottles of gels and bathing bubbles in dozens and dozens of scents.

I can't help myself. At least I smell delicious.
